Largo was originally founded in 1947 to house employees of nearby Mcquire Air Force Base, which eventually became a joint base with the Coast Guard before it closed several years ago. Currently, there are still some military personnel living in Largo because of Macdill Airforce Base that is also located close by in Tampa.
The city of Largo has a population of about 84,000 people. While it is not the largest city in Florida, it still offers plenty in terms of amenities and things to do. There are several parks located throughout Largo, as well as a zoo, and plenty of other recreational areas. The city is also home to the Largo Cultural Center which offers several different art exhibits throughout the year.
